What is mineral sunscreen, and how does it work?

Mineral sunscreen, also known as [physical sunscreen](/content/collections/physical-sunscreen "physical sunscreen"/index.html), uses natural minerals such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide to create a physical barrier on the skin. Our mineral sunscreens also feature our patented [Enviroscreen® Technology](/content/pages/enviroscreen-101 "Enviroscreen® Technology"/index.html) to defend your skin from daily environmental aggressors, like pollution and blue (HEV) light.

Unlike chemical sunscreens, which work by absorbing UV rays and converting them into heat, mineral sunscreens sit on top of the skin and act as a shield, reflecting rays away from your skin.
